Banking and finance law is a particularly specialised area, especially when it comes to large scale projects, international ventures, mergers and acquisitions, property acquisitions, development construction, mining resources and energy project funding.
Our team of banking and finance lawyers are specifically dedicated to banking and finance transactions and recognised for outstanding work through Best Lawyers Awards, Doyles Listings and the Australasian Law Awards.
Wright Legal has six focus areas within our practice:
Advising on complex finance and loan agreements requires experience, project management insights and technical knowledge. Our clients depend on our knowledge, legal advice and negotiation experience to secure the best outcomes for them.
The team at Wright Legal is focused on delivering outcomes that reduce risk and ensure the best terms for our clients. We are known for being commercially astute in local, national and cross-border banking and finance transactions. We have successfully secured finance for hundreds of projects.
Our lawyers are experienced in the full range of finance transactions not only as a result of our impressive transaction record, but also through careers originating with major Australian and international law firms and finance companies.
We don’t act for banks.
Our clients deal directly with our senior team, which means quick access, fast turnaround and timely advice, without the overheads of a large multi-discipline law firm.
The firm was founded by Paul Wright in 2000, and developed into a leading practice for banking and finance law. Paul retired in 2012 and the firm is now lead by directors Dom McGreal and Trish Chapman, with a team of talented banking and finance lawyers.
With thanks to all our clients, Wright Legal has received significant honours this year.
We won the Debt Market Deal of the Year in the Australasian Law Awards 2020 for Saracen Mineral Holdings Limited debt acquisition facility to fund its 50% 'Super Pit' acquisition, lead by Trish Chapman, Director of Wright Legal.
Our banking and finance team were finalists in the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards in the category of Banking and Finance Team of the Year, and Wright Legal Director, Dom McGreal was a finalist in the Dealmaker of the Year award for significant deals including Resolute Mining's Toro Gold / Mako Gold Mine (Senegal) acquisition financing, and its Ravenswood Gold Mine disposal vendor financing plus Northern Star Resources’ Super Pit (50% interest) acquisition financing.
Trish Chapman was also recognised as a finalist in the Lawyer's Weekly Australian Law Awards category of Banking & Finance Partner of the Year 2020.
