Dom McGreal is a director of Wright Legal; he joined the firm in 2009 and has practised law since 2001. As a banking and finance lawyer, Dom is experienced in cross-border and domestic syndicated and bilateral loan transactions involving project finance, acquisition finance, corporate facilities, structured lending and real estate development and investment finance. He also has expertise in derivatives transactions.

Dom was recognised for his achievements in banking and finance as a finalist for the Deal Maker of the Year at the Australian Law Awards 2020. These awards are judged on excellence in practice, proven benefits to clients and industry leadership.  

Dom was also included in the Best Lawyers in Australia 2021 and 2022 (13th, 14th Eds) for his expertise in Banking and Finance Law, Derivatives, Asset Finance Law, Debt Capital Markets, High Yield Products and Project Finance and Development Practice. He was listed as a leading banking and finance lawyer in Doyle’s Guide (2020, 2021 and 2022) and in the Best Lawyers in Australia (2018 and 2019) for expertise both in derivatives transactions and in banking and finance law.

Dom has presented at numerous seminars, including the Global Minerals Summit where he spoke on structuring debt financing for projects, particularly in relation to tech minerals.

Prior to joining Wright Legal, Dom worked in London in Allen & Overy's banking and finance department and in JP Morgan's futures and options business. Dom also previously worked at Clayton Utz in Perth. He is qualified as a lawyer in Australia and England.

Mezzanine Lenders: Negotiating Intercreditor Arrangements

 

Here are some issues for mezzanine lenders to consider when negotiating intercreditor arrangements. We’ve found that agreeing a set of intercreditor principles up front, and as early in the process as possible, leads to transactional efficiency and a better chance of a successful execution. It’s much like a layered cake with the aim of getting your capital slices baked together nicely.

Agree a fixed limit on the priority amount of the senior debt. The parties can also agree additional headroom to give the senior lender a buffer if the senior needs to fund additional amounts.
